5 artwork series
2024
Transitional Space, The Space Between is an artwork about the realm of Barzakh, a liminal period between death and the afterlife. The artwork consists of 5 series that talks about the transitioning from the realm of grave to the soul being questioned by the 2 angels in the grave, representation of Heaven and Hell, and lastly the souls. Each artwork is presented through screen prints as well as monoprints. The composition invites viewers to be able to envision the space between this world and the next. Through using abstract swirly patterns for the screen prints, it creates a sense of being in another world that symbolises the realm of Barzakh, having the consciousness being suspended. The different tones of red and blue are seen most throughout the series that plays an important part which represents Heaven and Hell, also the souls of believers and non-believers. Depending on the deeds of the souls in life, the use of threads that is loose and hanging symbolises the souls in blue floating around being in peace, while the souls in red are being tangled up that represents being trapped and stuck in a loop of torment.Quran verse from Chapter 3, verse 185 ; “Every soul shall taste death” is screen printed both in English and Arabic onto the monoprints, acts as a reminder that this worldly life is temporary and death is bound to happen. The 3 grave questions “Man Rabbuka?” ; “Who is your Lord?”, “Ma Deenuka?” ; “What is your religion?” , “Man Nabiyyuka?” ; “Who is your Prophet?” are also screen printed both in English as well as Arabic onto the different tones of red and blue monoprints. These questions may be asked in the grave by the 2 angels, Munkar and Nakir, where they are represented in a stylized outline with the questions in Arabic on the print.Exploring the different tones of blue and red in the monoprints, each representing the 7 gates of Heaven and Hell. Placing them from the lightest to the darkest tone for the blue hues which then transitions to the darker to the lighter tones of the red hues. Placing them in this manner shows the different levels of Heaven and Hell. The work speaks of the eternal waiting place for the soul which is the Barzakh, it’s also about the known and unknown, the light and dark. It represents the journey through the realm of Barzakh that is not the final destination however a transformation, where the soul wanders between the worldly realm and the next, waiting for the day of judgement to arrive.

lino print
This print is based off the song Moon Tour by Lee Taeyong. I decided to create a Lino print to be given out to fans of Taeyong during his movie screening “TY TRACK In Cinemas” in Singapore back in October 2024. This was definitely a fun project that I did during my free time.

This was just a small collaboration with Live nation where my team and I sent out a proposal to do up a fan project for Xdinary Heroes during their Beautiful Mind concert in Singapore back in July 2025.
I did a design for the hand banner that was given out to the attendees of the concert as well as the members of the band.

My artistic practice is deeply influenced by my Islamic faith, where I get inspiration from the chapters of the Quran, the stories and teachings of the Prophets, and Islamic culture. Through my work, I aim to communicate the beauty and wisdom of Islam, using variety of mediums like prints, paintings and sculptures. At the same time, I have a personal interest in Kpop, which inspires me to create digital artworks, designs and prints. While these two areas of my art practice are distinct, they each allow me to explore different aspects of creativity ; one grounded in spiritually, while the other in contemporary pop culture.
